Cover Design

Your book cover captures the essence of what’s inside and is key in driving interest for your book.

I will design a cover aligned to your story and genre whether it leans more typographical or has an in-depth visual design. This cover design can be used for print softcover and hardcover, eBook, and promotional materials.

  • Final digital files for upload to platforms like Amazon KDP and IngramSpark

    • One digital print-ready file (PDF) with full cover (front, spine, and back)

Interior Design & Formatting

Interior design makes your book look polished. You want to ensure your product is just as beautiful and professional as any traditionally-published book on the shelf.

We’ll determine a design that aligns to the story and genre. This includes choices for typography, page layout, front and back matter, headers, footers, etc.

I design book interiors using Adobe InDesign for a professional outcome.

Process and Timeline

Prep Time: 1 Week

Prior to the start date, you will have access to a project planning and tracking portal. I will provide instructions for you to do the prep work to be ready to go. In general this will include things such as:

  • Completing a questionnaire about your book and genre

  • Providing required information

  • Sharing examples of covers you like

  • Sharing your author branding

Build Time: 3 Weeks +

The creation process takes place over a three-week period. (Add-ons, such as copyediting or proofreading, will require more time depending on the length of your book.) I will develop preliminary concepts for review. Following approval, I will finalize your book and deliver your files.

“Editor, designer, and consultant are words people may use to describe the services she provided, but those words don’t do justice to the immense impact she made. Amazing!”

Add-on Options

Copyediting

Copyediting is the minimum level of editing that a manuscript will need to prepare it for the publication process. It’s completed using an electronic version of the manuscript (e.g., Microsoft Word). This is a complete read through and includes any or all of the following:

  • Correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and word usage while preserving the meaning and voice of the original text

  • Checking for consistent style and format

  • Checking with the author about redundancies, apparent errors, or inconsistencies

  • Cross-checking references, figures, etc. for consistency with mentions in the text (this is not fact checking)

  • Preparing a style sheet that documents styles, proper names, unusual spellings, etc.

The copyedit should take place when the manuscript is considered completely written and has been through developmental edits and alpha/beta reviews. No substantial changes should be planned at this stage.

Investment: $.03/word

    • Microsoft Word edited manuscript with tracked changes and comments

    • Style sheet with notes and style decisions

    • 30,000 words: $ 900

    • 50,000 words: $ 1,500

    • 70,000 words: $ 2,100

    • 100,000 words: $ 3,000

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final step before your manuscript goes to publication to catch any remaining issues. This is not an in-depth review like a copyedit. The primary goal of proofreading is to ensure the text is mechanically correct, not to improve the writing style or content.

This is a complete read through and includes any or all of the following:

  • Checking for spelling errors, grammar issues, punctuation errors, and inconsistencies

  • Checking formatting: page numbering, blank pages, headers, footers, margins, table of contents, alignment, typesetting, etc.

After the proofread, final updates can be made to the manuscript to prepare it for publication.

Investment: $.02/word

    • Microsoft Word edited manuscript with tracked changes and comments

    • Style sheet with notes

    • 30,000 words: $ 600

    • 50,000 words: $ 1,000

    • 70,000 words: $ 1,400

    • 100,000 words: $ 2,000

Reader Magnet

If you’re looking for something to share with new email subscribers or with people at events or gatherings, a reader magnet can be the answer. This freebie should be something that promotes you, your website or social media, and your book(s).

For newsletter subscribers, this could be a PDF of a part of one of your books. For in person events, this could be a business card or bookmark.

Investment: $200

  • Business card design (front and back)

  • Bookmark design (front and back)

  • Designed PDF of part of your story

    • Your item designed to align with your author branding and/or your book(s)

      • PDF file of your story to use online, or

      • JPG files to have the bookmark or business card printed on your own

    • Up to one revision round
